American Cocker Spaniel Appearance

The American Cocker has a medium to long silky fur on the body and ears and hanging down on the legs and belly. The color of its fur can be black, black and tan, any solid color other than black, and parti-color.

Its head has an upturned nose and the ears hang down, it has large and round dark eyes and the eyebrows are more pronounced than English Cocker. Depending on the color of the breed the nose color can be black or brown. Its skull is domed, the muzzle is shorter than English Cocker too.

American Cocker Spaniel Size

The American Cocker is the smallest dog recognized by the American Kennel Club as a sporting dog, they weigh around 9-11 kg (20 to 25 pounds) for females and 11-14 kg (25 to 30 pounds) for males, their height ranges around 36-38 cm (14 to 15 inches) for females and 38-41 cm (15 to 16 inches) for males.

The exact size standards might vary but you can expect females to be slightly smaller than males.

Canine Phosphofructokinase (PFKDeficiency It is an autosomal recessive genetic disease that prevents the metabolism of glucose into available energy resulting in exercise intolerance and muscle disease in Cocker Spaniels.
