One of the common fruits most households have in their fruit basket is banana, and I’m sure you are wondering if you can share this with your fur baby. Dogs can eat Bananas, this yellow, sweet and healthy fruits are good treats for your furry dog. However, like any other healthy fruits you can share with your dog, anything too much is not good for their health.

Are Bananas Good for Dogs?

Giving Banana to your dog as an infrequent treat can give them the following vitamins and minerals that are good for their health.
Banana is a good source of Vitamin C and Vitamin B6 (helps reduce swelling, protect against developing Type 2 diabetes, aid in weight loss, strengthen the nervous system, and help with the production of white blood cells). It is also rich in antioxidants (a substance that can prevent or slow damage to cells caused by free radicals), a fiber that keeps your dog digestive system clean and healthy, it also helps to ease bowel movements, and flushing cholesterol and harmful carcinogens out of the body. Banana also contains magnesium that helps in bone growth and aids the body in the absorption of protein and vitamins.
Are Bananas Bad for Dogs?
Feeding banana to your dog in moderation is not bad for them but if you always feed them a banana or make it include in their daily meal it can cause gastrointestinal issues, obesity, and diabetes.
Bananas contain sugar that if consumed in high amounts by a dog can cause gastrointestinal issues, obesity, and diabetes, it also rich in fiber that can cause constipation.
Some dogs have difficulty in digesting banana, and some have an allergy so always ask your vet before trying to give a banana to your dog especially if this is their first time eating that.
If your dog shows the following symptoms of an allergic reaction after eating banana immediately bring him/her to your vet or to the nearest vet clinic.

Can Dogs Eat Banana Peels?
Don’t ever try to feed your dog the banana peel. Although the banana peel is not toxic to dogs it can cause blockage or indigestion to your fur baby.
Consult your veterinarian if your not sure how much banana you can give to your dog because too much of it can also cause an upset stomach to them.
How to Feed Banana To Your Dog?

As I always said Banana is a healthy treat for dogs but it is advisable to ask your veterinarian before feeding a banana to your fur baby.
You can give your dog a banana as it is or transform it into a delicious snack.
- Frozen banana (make sure you peel it)
- Mash banana included in your dog’s food
- Mash banana with a little peanut butter
- Slice the banana into a cube and freeze, stuff it into your Kong dog toy.
