What is Creme Caramel?
Crème Caramel also known as flan, or caramel custard is a dessert made of egg, milk, vanilla extract, and sugar. It has a clear layer of caramel sauce (milted sugar, butter, and mixed with cream) set off with a hard caramel layer on top.
Can Dogs Eat Creme Caramel?
Dogs should not eat Creme Caramel because it made with ingredients that are not safe and healthy for dogs. Although egg (either boiled, steamed, etc. except fried) is safe and healthy for dogs to eat the other ingredients of making creme caramel is not, the following are some of it:
Milk – Most dogs has lactose intolerance ( a digestive disorder caused by the inability to digest lactose, the main carbohydrate in dairy products) which makes them not be able to digest milk, if they consume a large amount of milk or any food with milk it might cause them upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, and more.
Sugar – Dogs can have diabetes by consuming too much sugar, it also can cause dental disease, obesity, or make your dog too hyper that will followed by lethargy or irritability.
Vanilla extract – It has high alcohol content that is toxic to dog. If your dog consume any food with large amount of vanilla extract or any imitation of vanilla they have high possibility of having alcohol poisoning if he consumes too much.
Caramel – Although caramel is not toxic for dogs it is still made of sugar, milk, and butter that can caused health problems to them.
Is Creme Caramel Bad for Dogs?
A small amount of Creme Caramel won’t immediately harm your dog but frequently eating it or your dog accidentally consumed a large amount of it can result in health problems, you must watch for the following symptoms so you can bring him immediately to the vet.
