What is Twizzlers?

Twizzlers are twisted long shape pieces of candy that come in many different flavors, colors, and spin-offs. The following are the main ingredients used in Twizzlers:

  • Cornstarch
  • Palm oil
  • Salt
  • Artificial flavor
  • Glycerin
  • Citric acid
  • Potassium sorbate
  • Red 40
  • Soy lecithin

Can Dogs Eat Twizzlers?

Twizzlers is not safe and healthy for dogs, even though it has no toxic ingredients on it it’s still very harmful to them because of its high amount of sugar, artificial flavors, and preservatives that can cause health problems such as obesity, diabetes, pancreatitis, periodontal disease, and more.

If your dog accidentally ate a piece of Twizzlers you don’t have to worry, you can expect your dog to experience some vomiting and mild GI upset such as a loose stool for a day or so and just be fine after a while. However, if your dog ate a large amount/number of Twizzlers it is better to call your vet immediately especially if it has Xylitol or chocolate in the ingredients because it’s very toxic for dogs.

Symptoms of Chocolate Toxicity in Dogs

If your dog ate a large amount/number of Twizzlers with chocolate the possibility of him having chocolate toxicity will be very high.

If your dog shows the following symptoms make sure to bring him to the vet immediately.

Dogs should avoid and not eat Twizzlers in any amount/numbers it has no nutritional value that your dog needs and it will only make them feel sick if consumed in large amounts.
