Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Appearance

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has large dark eyes, a short nose, a high domed head, and a line of black skin around the mouth, it has a traditionally docked tail and long dangling ears that are typical to a spaniel breed, their has medium-length coats that are silky to touch and slightly wavy. Cavalier is known for beautiful fur especially at the tail, the color of its fur comes in four different colors, like Blenheim (chestnut and white), Tricolor (black/white/tan), Black and Tan, and Ruby. Adult Cavalier has feathering on their ears, feet, legs, and tail.

They are easy to groom but it is recommended to brush their fur three to four times a week and bathe and groom at least once a week or if necessary. Trim their nails once or twice a month to prevent injury in your dogs, long nails can also cause arthritis or other health concern in dogs. Short, neatly trimmed nails keep the feet in good condition and prevent our dog’s legs and our legs too from getting scratched when they excitedly jump up to greet us.

Episodic Falling It is an ‘exercise-induced hypertonicity disorder’ meaning that there is increased muscle tone and the muscles are unable to relax.
Syringomyelia It is a generic term referring to a disorder in which a cyst or cavity forms within the spinal cord. This cyst, called a syrinx, can expand and elongate over time, destroying the spinal cord.
Retinal Dysplasia It is an eye disease affecting the retina of animals, usually a nonprogressive disease, and can be caused by viral infections, drugs, vitamin A deficiency, or genetic defects. Retinal dysplasia is characterized by folds or rosettes (round clumps) of the retinal tissue.
Hip Dysplasia It is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its more severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints.
