The Chow Shepherd is a mixed breed dog cross between the Chow Chow and German Shepherd. They inherited both good qualities of their parents such as loyal, protective, sweet, and playful. This medium to large breed of dog is ideal for a watchdog and all-around family companion, they are suited to live in a house that has a big yard but they can also do well in an apartment as long as they can get enough exercise to release their energy, a simple walk or jogging in a day will help them keep fit and healthy.

Chow Shepherd Appearance

Chow Shepherd has a coat that is the mix of their Chow Chow and German Shepherd parents, they have hypoallergenic long and dense double coats that come in fawn, cream, gray, red, brown, and black. They generally have a beautiful blend of two or more colors. Keep in mind that they are indoor dog and needs to keep inside the house. Chow Shepherd is a heavy shedder like its parents and needs to bathe and groom them as necessary, used the right shampoo and conditioner for their fur to make it soft, silky, and smell good. 

It is best to keep their dental hygiene and nail care properly too, periodontal disease is very common to dog whatever their size, brush their teeth several times a week to help remove tartar and bacteria and maintain the good condition of their teeth. Trim their nails once or twice a month to prevent injury in your dogs, long nails can also cause arthritis or other health concern in dogs. Short, neatly trimmed nails keep the feet in good condition and prevent our dog’s legs and our legs too from getting scratched when they excitedly jump up to greet us.

They are intelligent which makes them easy to train and discipline, they prepare around adults but they can be very good playmates to children too and will very protective of them but because of their size supervision of an adult is must especially if the children don’t know how to handle large dogs.

Canine Eye Inflammation If your dog is suffering from eye inflammation in the outer skin and middle (muscle, connective tissue, and glands) of the eyes it is classified as Blepharitis, and if your dog is suffering from eye inflammation in the iris and ciliary body of the uvea of the eye it is classified as anterior uveitis, this may affect your dog’s vision and needs meditate veterinarian attention.
AllergiesIt is a misguided reaction to foreign substances by the body’s immune system of your dogs.
Hip DysplasiaIt is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its more severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints.
