Irish Water Spaniel Appearance
Irish Spaniel is a strongly built but not leggy dog breed, their coat is dense and curl, it grows down from the head which often covers the eyes; a “beard” growing at the back of the throat often accompanied by “sideburns”. Its fur color is liver/puce and has a very definite purple hue. Their face is entirely smooth-coated that it doesn’t need any grooming. They have a rugged built with webbed feet to aid in its powerful swimming too.
Although they don’t shed a lot it is recommended to brush their fur at least once to twice a week to spread it natural oil through its body, and bathe and groom at least once a week or if necessary.
Irish Water Spaniel Size
The Irish Spaniel is the largest of the spaniels breed they weigh around 20-26 kg (45 to 58 pounds) for female and 25-31 kg (55 to 68 pounds) for male, their height ranges around 53-58 cm (21 to 23 inches) for female and 56-61 cm (22 to 24 inches) for male.
The exact size standards might vary, but you can expect females to be slightly smaller than males.
