Lakeland Terrier Appearance

The Lakeland Terrier is a sturdy and compact dog, they have small and dark-colored oval shape eyes, small V-shaped ears, a narrow chest, and a broad muzzle. They have a thick bushy wiry outer coat and a soft undercoat that comes in a variety of colors such as blue, black, liver (a deep reddish-brown), red, and wheaten (pale yellow or fawn).

Other Lakeland has a tan saddle that covers the back of the neck, back, sides, and up the tail, making them blue and tan, black and tan, or liver and tan. As you groom, check for sores, rashes, or signs of infection such as redness, tenderness, or inflammation on the skin, in the nose, mouth, and eyes, and on the feet. Eyes should be clear, with no redness or discharge. Your careful weekly exam will help you spot potential health problems early.

They are well suited for households or families of any size and can live in an apartment or house, though they will need plenty of exercise and attention. Having a yard or a place where they can run freely is advisable.
