The Large Münsterländer also known as Großer Münsterländer is a breed of dog that originated in the Münster region in Germany. They were developed to assist hunters in finding and retrieving game, usually birds. Großer Münsterländer was the same breed to German Longhaired Pointer before but was officially recognized as a separate breed when the German Longhaired Pointer club chose to deny recognition to the black and white color variation of Großer Münsterländer. They were good hunting dog and also an ideal pet companion in the house.

Large Münsterländer has elegant, athletic, and muscular built, their coat is dense, but should be firm and sleek that comes in black and white color with hair of medium length, the pattern is highly variable, ranging from predominantly white to predominantly black. Like other breeds of dog, it is advisable to bathe and groom them as necessary, used the right shampoo and conditioner for their fur to make it soft, silky, and smell good.
They are low-to-moderate shedder, which may make them a good choice for allergy sufferers. Still, their longer coats can trap other allergens and become irritating. Großer Münsterländer does not fair well in extreme temperatures, in summer hot day, they are not advisable to stay outdoor, make sure to give them enough clean cold water and stay them indoors for their safety, put some sunscreen on their body that is prone to sunburn, and if it is winter season make them wear a jacket to keep them warm.
