Phalène Dog


The Phalène is a toy breed dog that originated in Belgium, France. They have exactly the same characteristics as Papillon except for their ears that is drop-down.

Like any other toy breed, Phalène can live in a small space like an apartment, they are a lap dog that you can bring anywhere without any hassle. Even though they are small dogs they still need regular exercise, a simple walk every day will help to keep their body fit and healthy, it also helps improve their socialization.

Phalène Appearance

Phalène head is round, and they have silky ears that flop downwards, their eyes are round and comes in the color of dark brown or black like their nose and lips. Their tails are like to squirrel it is long and floppy.

Phalène is a single coated dog, it is straight and smooth and long all over its body, but short on the head and legs. The ears and back of their legs have a feathering that gives them a look of elegance. The common colors of their coat are white and brown, white and black, white and red, and sometimes tri-color. Their paw pads vary in color from black to pink, depending on the coloring of the dog.

They are easy to groom but it is recommended to brush their fur daily. It is better to bathe and groom them as necessary and used the right shampoo and conditioner for their fur to make it soft and smell good.

Phalène Size

Phalène is a small dog weighing around 3-4 kg (7 to 9 pounds) for females and 4-5 kg (7 to 11 pounds) for males, their height ranges from 20-28 cm (8 to 11 inches) for both males and females.

The Phalène is a happy, lovely, sweet dog, they are adventurous and not shy or aggressive that makes them an ideal pet at home, they are also intelligent and easy to train and discipline. They love their owner a lot that they don’t mind cuddling on the couch for so long. 

Like other breeds of dogs early socialization can make Phalène comfortable with other dogs in the house, they are also a good playmate to the children as long as you teach the children how to handle the dogs for the safety of the dogs and the children themselves.

It is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its more severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints.
