The Pointer also known as the English Pointer, is a medium to a large-sized breed of dog originated in England. They were breed as a hunting dog developed to assist hunters in finding and retrieving game, usually birds.

English Pointer is bred to follow their nose and to run for long distances it is advisable to have a tall fence if you have a yard when living with this dog to prevent them from running after small animals they smell or see.

Pointer Appearance

The coat of Pointers is short, heavy, gentle with a sheen. They are originally white with either liver, lemon, orange or black markings. Even though pointers may have solid coloring in any of these hues, most Pointers are mainly white with somebody markings. Like other breeds of dog, it is still advisable to bathe and groom them as necessary, use the right shampoo and conditioner for their fur to make it soft, silky, and smell good.

While grooming you should check for any signs of infection such as redness, tenderness, or inflammation on the skin. The eyes should be clear, with no redness or discharge, the nose is normally wet but if you see some unusual discharge or it is too dry you better as for the expert. Note that your early detection of the health problem of your lovely dog will lead to an early medication of it that will prevent the problem to be severe.

Dog Ear Infections is a common condition in dogs that can affect one or both ears, check their ears at least once to twice a week for redness or a bad odor it is an indication of  Infections. To prevent ear infections in dogs always make sure that it is clean, use a dog ear cleaner and gently wipe it using a cotton ball dampened with an ear cleaner to your dog’s ears.

English Pointer is intelligent, caring, clean, and intensely loyal they can be a good playmate with children too as long as you teach the children how to handle properly the dogs for the safety of the dogs and the children themselves.

Hip DysplasiaIt is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its more severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints.
