The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon also known as Korthals Griffon is a breed of dog, they were bred to help hunters in their hunting to upland game birds as well as waterfowl. This happy, playful, intelligent and loving fur baby is excellent in their hunting skill but can also be a great family pet companion in the house.
Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Appearance
The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon has a large and long head, with large rounded eyes covered with eyebrows and complemented with a beard. Their nose is always brown and their neck is long and a well proportioned and muscular body. The Korthals Griffon has a dense double coat. The undercoat is a thick, weather-resistant down while the topcoat is harsh in texture and consists of straight, wiry hair. It is medium in length and should never be curly. The coat is preferably steel gray with brown markings, other colors like chestnut brown, white and brown, roan, and white and orange. All brown, all white or white and orange are accepted but less desirable.
Wirehaired Griffon is considered to be a non shedder but like other breeds of dog, it is still advisable to bathe and groom them as necessary, use the right shampoo and conditioner for their fur to make it soft, silky, and smell good.
As you groom, check for sores, rashes, or signs of infection such as redness, tenderness, or inflammation on the skin, in the nose, mouth, and eyes, and on the feet. Eyes should be clear, with no redness or discharge. Your careful weekly exam will help you spot potential health problems early.
