World Stray Animals Day – The increasing number of homeless animals in the world is one of the biggest problems that hurt most animal lovers worldwide. It is an issue that we as a human can end with the help of each other and for the love for every animal in the world.
The saddest part of the world is that people would prefer not to see stray animals rummaging through garbage on the street in search of food, why? Because they don’t improve the appearance of the community, instead, they appear to be filthy and transmit disease. Instead, they help and do something to help those poor animals in the street they dismiss them and don’t care what will happen to them afterward.
World Stray Animals Day is a day to focus on the plight of strays and to raise awareness of the issue. The 4th of April is World Stray Animals Day. There are about 600 million stray animals around the globe who live in misery – they are starved, cold, sick, and abused. Let’s help each other end this misery of every homeless animal and let’s create a world that will help them feel love and care for the rest of their life.
How to Help Stray Animals?
Despite the grim numbers of stray animals, there are steps that anybody may take to help animals in need both internationally and locally. Everyone can either join the campaign or come up with their own strategy to improve the lives of these stray animals (dogs, cats, etc.).
Some of the things you can do to help stray animals are the following:
Support or Be Part of a Non-Proffit Organization
Various non-profits around the world collaborate with one another or with local governments to aid stray animals. You can join them to advocate or just support them through donations and other ways like sharing their advocates to raise awareness.
Some of the non-profit organization that helps stray animals internationally and locally are:
- The Vanderpump Dog Foundation
- The Philippine Animal Welfare Society
- Austin Pets Alive
- Kansas City Pet Project
- The Humane Society of the United States
Volunteer at Local Shelter
Sign up to volunteer at your local shelter and give the gift of your time! Nothing is more valuable than your time, and nothing is more valuable than donating your time to your local shelter for the sake of the stray animals there. You can always volunteer at your local shelter to feed the animals, repaint the infrastructure, care for ill puppies, and assist build the shelter, among other things.
If you’re a digital specialist, you may even use your skills to assist the shelter to become more popular on social media and expand its reach. Socialize kittens, take lovely images of adoptable to publish on social media, or take a dog on a walk to give him or her a respite from a day behind bars.
In this manner, you may provide your local shelter with free labor and take a day off from your routine while helping these lovely animals.
Foster Homeless Animals
Foster care is when you take in animals, help those who are sick or injured, and allow them to rehabilitate in a safe setting until they are ready for their permanent home.
The space you make by adding a temporary ‘roomie’ will provide a welcome break from shelter life for your new pal with paws, as well as the much-needed time for both your new pet and a newly-arrived shelter animal to find a forever home.
The only cons of this are there is for sure a sad and happy ending, sad because the lovely animals you take care of will eventually leave your home but the happy ending is he or she can have her forever home and loving family.
Adopt, Don’t Shop!
If you have the ability and you are confident to have a responsibility then adoption is the best way to help stray animals. Adoption rather than shopping should be prioritized. You can not only save a life but also have a lifelong friend with whom you can share love and happiness!
Be Kind (Don’t Ignore the Needy)
Every creature whether human or animal needs help, don’t ignore or be part of the problem (by disposing of your pets if you don’t want them). Be responsible and if you saw someone that needs help reach out your hands.
You can’t change the world but you can change the life of the stray you help with.
